The School of Legal Studies at Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is organizing a two-day International Hybrid Conference on 'Contemporary Trends in Public International Law' to explore the relevance of international law in the modern world. This conference aims to analyze the impact of recent global events on the principles of international law and examine the evolving role of international institutions in safeguarding peace and justice.

About the School of Legal Studies at CUSAT

Established in 1962 as part of Kerala University, the School of Legal Studies is one of the oldest law schools in India. Since its inception, the school has been offering postgraduate courses and conducting research in law. In 1971, the Law School became a part of the University of Cochin, which was later reorganized and renamed as Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in 1986. CUSAT is committed to promoting graduate and postgraduate studies, as well as advanced research in various fields.

The International Hybrid Conference on Contemporary Trends in Public International Law will be held on February 23-24, providing participants with an opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions and gain insights into the challenges faced by international law in the present-day scenario. The conference will focus on the theme of "climate change consciousness in law," while also allowing participants to explore other relevant sub-themes within the broader framework.

Submission Guidelines

To actively contribute to the conference, interested individuals are invited to submit their research papers. Here are the submission guidelines:

  1. The paper should be submitted in Microsoft Word format.
  2. A cover page containing the title of the paper, theme of the paper, name of the author, university/institution/organization, email address, and mobile number should accompany the paper.
  3. The full paper should be between 3500-4000 words (excluding footnotes).
  4. Co-authorship is allowed for up to two authors.
  5. All submissions must be original and unpublished work, not submitted for publication elsewhere.
  6. Plagiarism in any form will not be entertained.

Formatting Guidelines

To ensure consistency, please adhere to the following formatting guidelines:

  1. Use Times New Roman font with a font size of 12 for the main text.
  2. Maintain a spacing of 1.5 between lines.
  3. Include footnotes for all references using Times New Roman font, size 10, and single spacing.
  4. Follow the OSCOLA standard of footnoting for accurate referencing.
