  40. HPNLU Shimla offers B.A./B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) Five-Year Integrated Programmes, comprising of courses in Law, Management and Social Sciences. In the last four semesters of study, students are offered specializations in four streams/groups, viz. Constitutional Law, Business Law, Crime & Criminology, and International Law. CLATPG Eligibility

  1. AnLl.B. Degree or an equivalent examination with a minimum of Fifty percent (50%) marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories and Forty-Five percent (45%) marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.

  2. Candidates appearing for their qualifying examination in April/May 2024 are also eligible to apply.

  3. There is no upper age limit for appearing for the CLAT 2024.

  4. Tie Breaker Rule : In case of equal marks, the break of tie shall be by the following procedure and order as under:

    1. Higherage;
    2. Computerised draw of lots.

How to fill out CLAT Application Form 2024?

The registration process for CLAT 2024 is online. Also, the registration window is the same for both the UG and PG candidates. The candidate can select the program of study at the time of filling out the application form. Candidates can follow step-by step process mentioned below to fill in the CLAT 2024 Application Form:

Step 1 - Online Registration:

  • Click on the registration link -
  • You will be redirected to a registration window
  • Click on the "Register" button
  • A registration form will open where you will have to enter registration details like name, mobile number, email id. Also, select and confirm a password for the candidate account.

Step 2: Filling CLAT Application Form 2024

To access the application form, you need to log in to the account using your phone number and password. Once you log in, you will see the following screen.

Proceed to fill out the form.

  • Select the program of study: You have to select the Under Graduate (UG) 5-Year LLB Course or Post Graduate (PG) 1-Year LLM Course. Then press the "Apply for CLAT 2024" button.
  • CLAT 2024 application form - Personal details:In this section, you will have to upload a photograph and your signature in jpeg/png format. Other details that have to be entered include the date of birth, mothers' and father's name, gender, nationality, All India Category under which admission is sought (SC/ST, OBC, or General). Reserved category, PwD, and BPL candidates need to upload the relevant certificate. Finally, mention the domicile state.
  • Enter Communication Details: In this section, enter your present and permanent address.
  • Education Details:Select the qualifying exam from the drop-down menu, enter the name of the board (or university), appearing/appeared or passed, year and month of passing, and percentage.
  • Enter Test Centre Preferences -In this section you have to select three exam centers for CLAT 2024 exam. Select Test Center Preference – 1 for the test center with the first preference. Use Test Center Preference – 3 for the least preferred exam center. The CLAT 2024 exam will be conducted in more than 80 test centers.

Enter Reservation Criteria

Candidates in this section can select categories individually for each NLU. Candidates who want to apply under additional categories can use this section. Candidates are advised to check CLAT Reservation Criteria 2024 and intake for seats reserved at all NLUs before filling CLAT application form. Candidates must note that except NLU Jodhpur, all other NLUs are offering domicile reservations. Candidates will have to upload a domicile certificate in PDF format, issued by a competent authority. The reservation policy of NLUs is as mentioned below.

NLU Preference List 2024:

Candidates will not be able to submit the application form for CLAT 2024 until they select NLUs and courses in the order of their preferences. Candidates must note that candidates can only enter NLU preferences till November 3, 2023. After the last date of CLAT 2024 registration, candidates won't be able to make any changed to their NLU prefernces. The NLU Preference window will look like this:

Step 3: Submission of the Application Form

Ensure that the various sections of the CLAT application form are duly and correctly filled. Note that all the details will be checked at the time of counseling registration, and any mismatch can lead to disqualification. Once you are satisfied that the application is complete in all respects -

  • Agree to the declaration form
  • Select the Third Party Communication Details Agreement and Give your consent
  • Submit the form.

Once you agree to the agreement, give your consent and submit the application form, the following page will appear.

Step 4: Pay CLAT Application Fee

After submitting the application form, the candidate need to pay the application or exam fee, which is category-specific. Candidates can pay the application fee in online mode using (debit card/credit card/net banking). The mode of application fee payment is online.

Candidates needed to check the prescribed eligibility criteria before filling up the application form. Candidates could select their course i.e. 5-year LLB or one-year LLM programs while registering for the exam. To fill out the form, the candidate has to get registered, fill in personal, academic, and contact details, upload documents and pay the fee. CLAT exam fee is INR 4,000 for General and INR 3,500 for SC, ST, and BPL categories.

CLAT PG Syllabus& Guide

Introduction and Overview

The PG-CLATwill feature an emphasis on the comprehension abilities of the students. It shall be of 120 minutes duration, with one sections:

  1. The first section would include 120 objective-type questions carrying 1 mark each. There shall be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.

The paper will be based on the mandatory subjects of the undergraduate program and include Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Administrative Law, Law of Contract, Torts, Family Law, Criminal Law, Property Law, Company Law, Public International Law, Tax Law, Environmental Law, and Labour & Industrial Law.

Objective Section

In this section of the PG-CLAT, you will be provided extracts from primary legal materials such as important court decisions in various fields of law, statutes or regulations. Each passage will be followed by a series of questions that will require you to demonstrate the:

  1. Ability to read and comprehend the issues discussed in the passage, as well as any arguments and viewpoints discussed or set out in the passage;
  2. Awareness of the issues discussed in the passage, as well as of legal issues and facts related to and arising out of the passage and the judgment or statute from which it is extracted;
  3. Summarise the passage; and
  4. Ability to apply your knowledge of the fields of law discussed in the passage.

Preparing for the PG-CLAT

As part of your preparations for the PG-CLAT, you should:

  1. Read and refresh your knowledge of important judgments, and try to discern various issues discussed in such judgments;
  2. Refresh your knowledge of important constitutional and legislative provisions, particularly those that may have been discussed in recent judgments; it would also be useful to ensure you are aware of historical case law and amendments related to such provisions, so that you have a more complete awareness of such provisions and the issues related to them;
