One of the highlights of LOIFIESTA 2024 is the National Moot Court Competition. Moot court competitions serve as platforms for students to sharpen their legal skills and gain practical exposure to the workings of a courtroom. These simulated court hearings allow participants to analyze complex legal problems, research relevant laws, prepare written submissions, and present oral arguments.
Moot court problems are often set in areas of law that are unsettled or have undergone recent developments, enabling participants to tackle contemporary legal issues. Each team in the competition argues two grounds of appeal, providing a comprehensive understanding of the arguments from both sides. The procedure imitates real court proceedings, including appearances, submissions, questioning, and judgments, offering participants a realistic and immersive experience.
If you are an undergraduate student pursuing a recognized Bachelor of Law (or equivalent) program, you are eligible to participate in the National Moot Court Competition at LOIFIESTA 2024. Each team must consist of 2-3 students, with one researcher and two mooters. Please note that only two teams can register from a particular college, law school, or university.
To register your team, complete and submit the Registration Form by 05.00 pm [IST] on February 15, 2024. After filling the form, send it via email to moot.loifiesta@gmail.com. Once the Organizing Committee acknowledges your registration, it will be considered final. Remember to provide all the necessary information in the Registration Form, as incomplete submissions will not be accepted.
